For people living with IBS
Lunch before a meeting. Dinner with friends. A meal while travelling.
When you live with IBS or recurring digestive discomfort, eating can become a calculation: What’s in this? How will I feel later? Should I risk it?
Food diaries ask you to remember everything. Elimination diets can take months. Generic advice cannot always explain why something feels fine one day and causes discomfort the next.
We believe there could be a better way.

Meet Grumble
Grumble is a soft band worn just below the ribs. No screen, no buttons, nothing to remember once it is on.
It is being designed to listen to the sounds your digestive system already makes, quietly and continuously, through an ordinary day at a desk, at the gym or asleep.
Those recordings are paired with what you log: a photograph of a meal, the time you ate, how you felt afterwards. Over enough days, we intend to explore whether the two together reveal patterns that neither shows on its own.
Not somebody else’s diet.
Not another list of forbidden foods.
A clearer picture of your own body.

The idea
Digestive activity produces sound. Existing scientific research shows these sounds can be captured using sensors and that their patterns can change with meals and gastrointestinal activity.
Grumble’s goal is to bring this emerging science into everyday life: combining continuous gut-sound sensing with information about what you eat, what you do and how you feel.
The underlying science gives us a reason to build. The Founding 50 will help us discover how useful it can become.
How we intend it to work
Wear Grumble discreetly during everyday life while it listens for patterns in digestive activity.
Photograph or record meals and note important moments, symptoms and changes in how you feel.
As repeated observations build, the app is intended to help reveal possible relationships between food, routines and digestive responses.

Not just what you ate
Sleep, stress, exercise, timing, portion size and previous meals may all affect how somebody feels.
The aim isn’t to judge every meal as “good” or “bad”. It’s to help build a more personal understanding of what happens next.
Built for real life

Feel more prepared for meetings, commutes and long days away from home.

Build a better understanding of patterns before days that matter.

Approach meals out with more confidence and less second-guessing.

Notice the small patterns that are difficult to remember alone.
The Founding 50

Building in the open
What we knowScientific research gives us evidence that digestive sounds contain useful information. Early prototypes give us reason to believe those signals can be captured outside a clinical environment.
What we need to learnWhat has not yet been established is whether Grumble can consistently connect those signals to particular foods and useful personal patterns across many people.
Our promiseFounding members will receive honest updates about our progress, setbacks, prototypes and learning. We won’t pretend the answer is known before we have tested it.
FAQs
Grumble is not yet a finished or validated consumer product. Existing research shows that digestive sounds can be captured and contain information about gastrointestinal activity. We’re developing Grumble to investigate whether those signals can be combined with meal and symptom data to provide useful personal insights.

Grumble’s first product is intended as a general-wellness product, not a diagnostic device. It will not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent IBS or any other medical condition.
The final commercial model has not yet been confirmed. If Grumble later includes an optional or required subscription, its price and features will be clear before founding members confirm their final order.
